Optional Add-ons/Upgrades:
• Optional UV Top Coat - HPU 747 - High Performance Urethane - 1.5 Gal Kit – Gloss. Additional $130 . See Overview Step 5 to see if you would qualify for this upgrade.
OR
• Optional UV Top Coat - HWU 420 - High Wear Urethane - 1 Gal Kit - Satin with built in nonskid. Additional $160. See Overview Step 5 to see if you would qualify for this upgrade.
Overview Steps of Installation:
1. Use Etch n’ Clean solution (diluted 1 gal of solution to 1 gal of hot water) to etch the concrete and then allow the concrete to sufficiently dry out. 48 hours, with fans on the floor should be sufficient. Etch n' Clean Process
2. Apply your first epoxy coating (Norklad WB/Preprime WB) as your primer coat. This low solids water based epoxy will act as a primer coat and will sink deep into the substrate giving your next coat (basecoat epoxy) more build, and uniform coverage. Primer may be dip and rolled from roller tray. Norklad WB - Product Data Sheet
3. Apply your basecoat color (Norklad 200) epoxy and color chips (comes with a full broadcast coverage of chips.) Norklad 200 may be spread quickly by squeegeeing and then rolled to make uniform, before broadcasting flakes by hand. Allow that to cure overnight. Scrape and vacuum the flakes to knock down any that are standing up. Norklad 200 - Product Data Sheet
4. After the base coat has cured, apply Norklad 100M clear 100% solids epoxy to lock in those flakes, smooth out the surface of the floor and protect it from dirt, oils and abrasion. Norklad 100M - Product Data Sheet
5. If you have any UV exposure at all (from windows, doorwalls or leaving garage doors open), we recommend using a urethane clear coat as the final topcoat. This final step will give you better chemical resistance and complete UV-protection. We have two urethane options available in the dropdown menu:
• HPU 747 - High Performance Urethane - 1.5 Gal Kit – Gloss. Additional $130 HPU 747 - Product Data Sheet
• HWU 420 - High Wear Urethane - 1 Gal Kit - Satin finish with built in nonskid/anti-slip. Additional $160 HWU 420 - Product Data Sheet
The HPU 747 VOC Urethane Clearcoat emits hazardous vapors while curing and should only be used in well ventilated areas. Respirator or N95 facemask recommended. The HPU 747 would be a gloss finish.
If you prefer a satin/matte finish with a built in nonskid for slip resistance, then our High Wear Urethane 420 should be the selected option. HWU 420 is extremely durable and is our clear topcoat that is most resilient to scratches and scuffs.
